THE CLINICAL STUDY OF INFRARED ON THE DEGNERATIVE ARTHRITIS

Abstract

|
Heating by infrared exerts local as well as general effects. Two main local effects of heat radiation are the stimula,.tign of local circulation and of nerve ending of the skin.
To evaluate the therapeutic effectiveness of infrared mat on the degenerative arthritis patients a clinical study was carried out in 20 patients.
The results were as follows.
1. The clinical efficacy of infrared mat was excellent and good in 8 patients(47%) in 17 degenerative arthritis of lumbar spine.
2. The clinical efficacy of infrared mat was good in 1 patient (50%) and satisfactory in 1 patient (50%) of 2 degenerative arthritis of cervical spine.
3. The clinical efficacy of infrared mat was unchanged in one degenerative arthritis of both knees.
